Francois Hope grew up in Mexico City, following his parents to America
in 1984 to seek a better economic life. He studied photography in Santa Barbara for several
years, finally settling in San Diego.
As the soul of an artisan is passed from generation to generation, Francois' aesthetic eye
can be traced back to his great-grandfather, a famous European sculptor whose works included
the Coat of Arms for Napoleon Bonaparte. Representing the artistic side of GMG is
Francois' particular telent; in working with the natural stone vendors, Francois sees not the
unfinished stone slab before him, but the polished, beautiful form it will take once
completed. This ability to visualize the end product helps Francois to choose the best
possible materials for GMG clients.
